The Position:
The Navigator program is an innovative, research-informed program that assists disengaged young people aged 12 -17 to re-connect back into education and learning. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced wellbeing manager or youth/family worker to join a multidisciplinary team to provide initial assessment as well as case managed support for young people.
Intake/Assessment & Active Hold: To conduct assessments and provide active hold support for families/young people seeking to re-engage back into education and learning.
The position requires working effectively alongside the DET Navigator Coordinator, fellow Intake and Assessment worker, referrers, young people, families, schools and other relevant services in the Loddon Campaspe Region.
To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:
- Ability to engage with young people and families over the phone to identify barriers to education and provide initial assessments around family issues such as abuse, family breakdown and family relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in case management of young people, families and/or significant others especially in relation to school re-engagement.
- Knowledge of school environments and educational policy and relevant youth mental health services in the Loddon Campaspe region.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, and ability to be self-directed.
- Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills and the ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients’ families/networks.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, and to contribute to program development, implementation and evaluation.
What you need to know:
- A salary at SCHCADS level 5 plus super around $94,000 (soon to increase by 3.75%).
- Flexible through the increments up to 5.3 (dependent upon experience).
