About the role

The Intake Assessment and Planning (IAP) Worker provides high quality initial assessment and planning services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness and work in close collaboration with other agencies and housing providers.

This role reports to Team Leader and Manager Housing Assessments and Pathways and focuses on assisting individuals and families in housing crisis through conducting assessments, provision of information and referrals, with follow up and financial support where appropriate. The IAP worker will work as part of a close team delivering front-line IAP services and long-term housing in line with organisational values and policies.

About you

To make this role a success, we are seeking a person with the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience working effectively and sensitively with diverse clients, in crisis and / or on a low income, including individuals and families with high support needs and behaviours
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the direct provision of homelessness, community housing or related support services
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, or related discipline is desirable
  • A demonstrated commitment to the empowerment of clients, equality and social justice
  • Commitment to inclusion and diversity
  • Ability to show initiative, problem solve and work autonomously
  • Ability to adopt a flexible, proactive, resourceful and teamwork based approach
  • High level communication and customer service skills in a crisis setting
  • Well-developed computer literacy
  • A demonstrated commitment to working with a values-based approach

On Offer

  • Full-time, Fixed Term (12 months) until March 2025
  • Salary $84,421 per annum (plus super, salary packaging and 17.5% leave loading)
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% annual leave loading
  • Salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax free
  • Rostered day off option for eligible staff
  • Supportive/flexible working arrangements
