INTAKE & INVESTIGATIONS COORDINATOR

The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) is a small, civil rights nonprofit working to address housing-based discrimination. We are currently seeking a full-time Intake & Investigations Coordinator to conduct intake of client allegations, build investigations of client-based discrimination, and implement referral and complaint-processing systems.

This position will work directly with victims of housing discrimination, ensuring that they know their rights under fair housing laws, discussing options with clients, guiding them through the process, and advocating as needed. For example, someone might call the FHCCI alleging that the apartment complex they live at is evicting only Black residents, but not any other races. You’ll work to gather facts for the case, work with other FHCCI staff to build an investigation, and determine if allegations of unlawful housing discrimination occurred. Or, similarly, someone might call, alleging that they were denied housing due to having a minor child or a disability. You’ll discuss the facts of their case, gather documents, help to advocate on behalf of the clients, and discuss their options.

Salary Range: $45,000-48,000 to start, dependent on experience, skills, and abilities

Hours/Location: Position is full time. Hours may vary at times from week to week as a result of deadlines and position requirements. The FHCCI is on a hybrid office schedule with all staff at the FHCCI’s Indianapolis office Tuesday-Thursday with other days allowed for remote working with approval. Flexing hours available depending on work schedule. In-state travel may occur with some out-of-state travel for professional development as approved.
