Duties and Responsibilities
The Team seeks to increase the visibility of economic, social, and cultural rights (ESCR) and the interlinkages with the Rights of Older persons. It works to elevate OHCHR’s work on economic inequalities and its role on ‘Leave No One Behind.’ Their work is cross-cutting across the three teams of the Branch: Sustainable Development Goals, Right to Development, and Economic Social and Cultural Rights, and complementary to the ongoing work of the Surge initiative. The Team also identifies and conceptualizes advocacy, development, and partnership opportunities and materials. For outreach to stakeholders, the team relies on global advocacy tools and campaigns, event planning, capacity building, and research. Under the team leader’s directions, illustrative duties include: ● Support the conceptualization and writing of projects and initiatives ● Identify funding opportunities and support grant-writing. ● Support the design and organisation of various capacity building training and workshops ● Research on areas linked to the teams responsibilities ● Drafting human rights briefs, infographics, and other written materials about ESCR, climate change, right to development, and economic inequalities for internal use or to support reports being drafted. ● Participate in engagement with stakeholders from other UN agencies, civil society, or academia.
Qualifications/special skills
Minimum first degree in related areas of specialization ( Law, Mass Communications, Journalism, Economics) Masters degree in Law/ Communications/ Journalism/ Economics .
Languages
Fluency in Official UN languages Desirable
