Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will support the ongoing work of the Office of the Director, Division of Administration. Duties may include, but are not limited to: – Research and analysis to support innovation in administrative service provision and management as well as client satisfaction – Implementation of projects, such as to improve the provision of expanded meeting modalities (such as hybrid and virtual meetings) at the UN in Geneva – Assist in the organization and servicing of workshops and support to meetings, ensuring record-keeping and follow-up – Assist in planning and implementing client engagement activities – Support communication and outreach – Support to other activities and projects, as need arises
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or must have pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
Additional Information
In addition, interested candidates must: – Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); – Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and, – Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
