1. Internship Topic

Understanding of gender responsive heat adaptation approaches.

 

2. Summary of Job Description

• Mapping exercise to identify existing global initiatives, policies, strategies, available funds, and other related information for gender-responsive heat adaptation from various stakeholders, including donor and developing member country governments, development partners, NGOs, and CSOs through desk research, and interviews as necessary.

• Analysis to identify comparative advantages of ADB, recommendations for heat adaptation mainstreaming, and key areas of potential cooperation with partners based on the findings from mapping exercise.

• Creating a database to consolidate all information collected from the mapping exercise, maintain, and regularly update in a common folder.

• Final report: The intern will compile the results in a report, to be presented in a seminar/workshop. The report will present key findings, the result of the mapping exercise, and recommendations for ADB’s engagement with potential partners on gender-responsive heat adaptation.

• Other tasks as assigned and agreed upon.

6. Expected Outcomes

The internship will lead to a greater understanding of heat stress with its gendered impact, various stakeholders’ interventions to address heat stress, climate change strategies and policies.

 

Qualifications

7. Education Requirements

• Enrolled in a Master’s- or PhD-level program at a school in one of the ADB member countries, prior to and after the internship assignment;

• Engaged in academic study in gender study, international development, climate change, environmental science or a related field.

 

8. Relevant experience

• Dynamic and proactive personality;

• Knowledge of current global dialogues on gender and climate change nexus, with a special focus on global warming and heat related issues (desired);

• Experience working in the field on gender and climate change, and/or disaster risk management projects (desired)

 

9. Additional Requirements

• National of one of ADB’s member countries.

• Possess an excellent command of English.
