Description

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of approximately 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
The CSIS China Power Project seeks a research intern to support the program’s work during the fall semester. There is one (1) available full-time position for an internship of at least three months, starting early September 2024, with the potential to extend the internship to a maximum of six months total.
Our project utilizes quantitative and qualitative tools to examine the evolving nature of China’s power. We regularly publish data-driven analysis on the China Power website (chinapower.csis.org). In addition to our work on China’s power, our experts also conduct research on Chinese foreign and security policy, cross-Strait relations, Chinese technology policy, U.S.-China relations, maritime security, and the broader Indo-Pacific security architecture, among other issues.
This is a fast-paced work environment, and we are looking for a motivated self-starter that can engage in a wide variety of analytic and logistical work. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that at least 3 days of the week will consist of in-person work at the CSIS offices.
The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($17.50/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.50/hour for hires with a bachelor’s degree, and $19.50/hour for hires with a master’s degree).
