Scope of Work ;

A significant element of the Strategic Note is an enhanced strategic approach to advocacy and communications, with the aim of increasing the visibility of Country Office and public awareness of both success stories and the specific gaps and challenges to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Sudan. It is imperative that communications methodologies adopted by Country Office are suited to the country context and able to attract and support the engagement of diverse stakeholder groups, including youth, civil society, national and regional authorities etc. Sudan CO’s communications activities will also support effective advocacy and aim to strengthen and expand partnerships with diverse stakeholders in the country and internationally.

Reporting to the Communications Analyst, the Communications Intern supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Intern promotes a client-oriented approach in UN Women.

Duties and Responsibilities

Description of Responsibilities and Deliverable:

  1. Supports the CO to develop communication materials and support in communication efforts:
  • Under the guidance of the Communication Analyst, the intern will support teams in the Country office to develop communication materials such as presentations, templates, etc.
  • Will assist the Communications Analyst in communications activities such as events, launches, review processes of UN Women illustrated annual report .

Deliverables:

  • Monthly summary of finished communications, and materials, pieces, URLs for materials published online

2. Monitoring of social media channels and development of monthly social media reports:

  • Under the guidance of the Communications Analyst, supports the CO social media channels through monthly reporting on reach, engagement and performance of social media campaigns and posts.
  • Monitoring all social media channels and engaging audience as necessary

Deliverables

  • Monthly report for all CO social media channels. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and posts for LinkedIn

3.Development and scheduling of high-quality communication materials:

  • Support programme teams through the communications Analyst to identify and develop key external communication materials, including thematic briefs, statements, brochures, posters, videos, photography, infographics, etc.;
  • Schedule content on different channels as needed

  • Production of high-quality advocacy and communication materials

Functional Competencies:

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: Communications, Journalism or related field,
  • or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Meet one of the following:
  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  3. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or
  4. Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree Programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Renumeration:

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
