Duties and Responsibilities
The Data Research and Programme Support intern: • Supports of CATSU’s work and its transition into new UN DOS Department. • Reviews, proofreads, and edits websites and other stakeholder communication platforms. • Conducts research, compiles, and organizes information and reference materials related to stakeholder communication and international commercial aviation safety, as assigned. • Provides support for the updating and maintaining of stakeholder and business information.
• Assists with organizing and facilitating stakeholder workshops. • Participates and takes comprehensive and concise notes at meetings. • Collaborates and assists with creating, organizing, and maintaining stakeholder materials. • Provides support and review of data and statistical analysis efforts, as assigned. • Assists with drafting and preparing background documents, reports, briefing, talking points, presentations etc. • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). (2) Be enrolled in the FINAL academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (3) Have graduated with a university degree as defined in (1) and (2). Preferably in Data Management, Data Science, Statistics, or any other related degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a university degree in the above disciplines.
Applicants should: • Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. • Be enthusiastic and curious about learning and working at the United Nations.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For these positions advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
