Exploring Climate Change Adaptation and the Financing Gaps in Asia and Pacific Islands
2. Summary of Job Description
The intern will undertake the following tasks as main activities:
1. Conduct research to highlight the climate change adaptation gaps and challenges in securing financing in developing member countries in Asia and the Pacific Islands.
2. Develop a conceptual framework that applies a mixed-method approach, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative aspects of adaptation financing.
3. Identify appropriate metrics/indicators and mechanism for monitoring public expenditures towards climate change adaptation and examine the role of private sector engagement in filling adaptation gaps.

Duration: 11 weeks
Timing: June 2024 onwards

5.Expected Outcomes
A report highlights the adaptation gaps and challenges in meeting the financing needs in developing member countries in Asia and the Pacific Islands. It also includes a conceptual framework that encompasses both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of adaptation financing, including suitable metrics/indicators and mechanisms for monitoring public expenditures toward climate change adaptation. Additionally, it explores the potential role of private sector engagement in filling adaptation gaps, if any. A final presentation will be made to share the key findings of the study.
Qualifications
6. Education Requirements
Graduate school student pursuing Master’s or Doctorate degree in economics, public policy or related field with a focus on climate change adaptation and/or adaptation financing. Candidate must be currently enrolled.
7. Relevant Experience
Experience in research projects studying climate change economics and financing related to adaptation and resilience outcomes is desirable.
