You are interested in working in an international organization and eager to learn. You are enthusiastic, result driven and have great communication skills. As an intern in this role, you support the human resources team in the following areas: recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, HR projects and HR advising. This is a multidimensional internship in which you have contact with various departments and all colleagues.

Your Challenge

You provide support the HR team. On a daily basis this can be recruitment, administration, or technical support. There is operational work to do, but you will also be involved in more tactical and strategic discussions. Obligations you may have in relation to your study will be discussed with you in order to ensure that the time with War Child will benefit your start in the job market.

Your responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will be (but are not limited to):

Recruitment

  • Provide recruitment support
  • Create vacancy texts
  • Schedule interviews
  • Follow up with candidates
  • Other recruitment related tasks

Onboarding

  • Arrange monthly onboarding sessions
  • Follow up on onboarding training new starters are completing
  • Other related onboarding tasks

Administration

  • Support the HR coordinator and HR advisor with administrative duties
  • Filing
  • Data management
  • HR metrics & analytics

HR projects

  • Support with project administration
  • Support with data collection
  • Support with data analysis
  • Support with project presentation and papers

HR advise

  • Support the HR advisor with researching and preparing advise
  • Support with requests from departments, employees and line managers

Your profile

  • Student with a specialization in Human resources or people related studies.
  • You areenrolled in a Dutch higher education institutefor the whole duration of the internship
  • Ability to produce quality work outputs within agreed priorities and to deadlines
  • Preferably, you have knowledge of NGO and/or development sector
  • Ability to maintain contacts at different levels
  • Excellent planning & organizational skills
  • Problem solving skills, can-do mentality
  • Pro-active, independent and flexible
  • Interested to work and communicate with people from various backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills including presentation preparation and delivery
  • Excellent command of English language, both spoken and written
  • Available for 4-5 days a week
  • Available to start mid-September 2024 for a minimum period of 6 months. Preferably 10 months or more.

Our organisation

War Child is a medium-sized aid organization. The Department of People & Culture is part of a Global Shared Platform, a service center that serves fundraising teams in Europe and the USA as well as field-oriented teams based in countries and regions affected by conflict. The Shared Platform is the result of a merger of the War Child organisations in the Netherlands and in the UK as per 1 January 2024. 2024 and 2025 will see quite a few activities to get things right. We try to keep an informal ambiance within our office in Amsterdam, with a lot of room for creativity, inspiration and self-initiative from employees. Our conditions

We are looking for an Intern Shared Operations who will join Team Shared Operations, from September 2024 for a period of at least 6 months, 4-5 days per week. As intern in War Child you can count on an interesting internship, with an opportunity to learn a lot. Of course you will get guidance, but also freedom to work out your ideas. You will receive an internship allowance of € 300, – gross per month, based on 40 hours per week.

Please note that War Child interns need to be enrolled as students at a Dutch educational institution for the duration of their internship. Please note that this internship does not suit students who are in their thesis writing semesters.
