You can start your internship with us as soon as possible. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team, but we would still like to meet at our headquarters in Bonn Bad Godesberg from time to time. Voluntary internships are limited to a maximum of three months and the workload is 20 hours/week in order to enable further qualification within the framework of ongoing trainings. The duration and scope of work for mandatory internships depend on the respective study regulations and are accordingly possible in full and part time. An internship of at least 4 months is highly desirable.
As an Evaluation Intern in the MEAL Team (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) of the Sector Strategy, Knowledge and Learning Unit you will support us in becoming a more impact-oriented and accountable learning organization. Specifically, you will assist in the production of a framework that will guide us to better measure the impact of our work, with the view of scaling it. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to gain a hands-on insight into the strategic impact measurement and evaluation processes of an international development cooperation organization, and learn about conventional as well as newly emerging impact measurement methods.
You are currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field such as economics/political/social sciences, development studies, or a degree program with a focus on evaluation.
You have in-depth knowledge of the design and utilization of quantitative impact evaluations (including experimental or quasi-experimental designs, such as RCTs, difference-in-difference, propensity score matching, regression discontinuity).
You have an understanding about the use of qualitative methods in evaluation, and willingness to learn about the application of qualitative impact measurement methods (including contribution analysis, process tracing, outcome harvesting)
You have already had first contact with the fields of international development policy, evaluation or impact assessment.
You have the ability to work analytically. You are not afraid to tackle complex problems, to analyze information from various angles to uncover hidden patterns.
You are a conceptual thinker, who can connect the dots, explore possibilities, and contribute fresh perspectives on the topic of impact.
You enjoy researching information – whether it’s digging deep into academic journals, sourcing the web for insights, or searching internal documents.
You enjoy working in an intercultural environment and have an open-minded personality.
Your written and spoken English skills are very good; French language skills would be an asset
