Intern in the global project support for implementation instruments of the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Climate Agreement

tendersglobal.net

Biodiversity loss and climate change must be addressed decisively. Without faster implementation progress and use of the synergies between climate and biodiversity protection, the goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Paris Agreement under the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) cannot be achieved.

The project supports the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) as part of the International Climate Protection Initiative (IKI) through technical inputs, policy advice and exchange in the CBD and UNFCCC negotiations. It advises partners on the further design of implementation instruments of the Global Biodiversity Framework (e.g. the Monitoring Framework, mainstreaming and capacity development) and the Paris Agreement (e.g. strengthening natural climate protection, resource efficiency and the circular economy). In addition, it promotes integrated approaches and the better use of synergies between implementation instruments for biodiversity, climate protection and adaptation through gender-responsive exchange formats and knowledge products. Furthermore, it strengthens international initiatives, partnerships and knowledge networks for biodiversity, forest and climate protection and ecosystem-based adaptation by preparing learning experiences and exchanging knowledge.

Your tasks

As part of the internship, you will support the project team in a variety of tasks related to the biodiversity-climate nexus, especially on the following key topics:

  • Support in the creation of communication materials for the project, including website and newsletter articles, setting up the internal project presence
  • Support in the logistical and content-related preparation, implementation and follow-up of appointments/events, especially in the context of the UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP-16) and UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP-29) (including creation of presentations, reports and minutes)
