JMI announces an internship opportunity for Jordanian candidates!

Who are we: Founded by HRH Princess Rym Ali, the Jordan Media Institute is a non-profit educational institution that aims to enhance the performance of journalists and media practitioners in Jordan and the MENA region. The institute, which provides professional education and training opportunities, offers its Arabic programs to raise the level of Arab media and provide foreign media outlets with professional Arabic-speaking journalists. JMI also seeks to improve media output and build the profession’s reputation locally and across the Arab world through its Master’s in Journalism and New Media.

JMI’s projects wing implements projects in collaboration with local and international partner organisations in the following thematic areas:

  • Media and Information Literacy (MIL)
  • Freedom of expression
  • Constructive journalism
  • Economic empowerment of women
  • Media and communication capacities
  • Health journalism

We are looking for: An enthusiastic team player with expertise in research, communication, and planning who will support the projects’ team across its various projects. The potential tasks include:

· Desk research

· Proposal and report writing

· Communication with international and national stakeholders

· Translation of Arabic-English and vice-versa

· Search for calls for proposals (CFPs) and funding opportunities that align with JMI’s interests

· Coordinate project participants and facilitators

· Assist with the creation and updating of the JMI roadmap, work plan and other strategic documents

· Communicate internally with JMI’s creative, social media and management units

What we offer :

The opportunity to be part of a leading Arab journalism and media organisation with the possibility of attending meetings, trainings, conferences and other events with media professionals, CSOs and international organisations.

3-6 months unpaid internship, with the possibility of evolving into long-term full employment depending on the performance.

Qualifications:

· On-going or completed Master’s degree in media, development, gender, international relations, public policy, economy, or relevant field within the scope of JMI.

· Fluent in English and Arabic.

· Interest in the media field in the Middle East.

· Residing or willing to reside in Jordan.

· Technical writing skills.

· Advanced MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.

Important note: The internship will start as soon as possible and will be based in Amman. JMI, unfortunately, does not cover any cost related to the internship.
