Organizational Context
The intern position is expected to support the DPRK country delegation (CD) with information management and data gathering. This entails scanning and compiling news in Korean for humanitarian-related articles relevant for IFRC, as well as establishing a database for IFRC internal information management system with DPRK-related information in the DEEP (Data Entry and Exploration Platform) system.
The job duties will help the country delegation to improve on information gathering and data analysis about the humanitarian context in DPRK to help shape future programming and strategies while drawing on secondary data in a structured and more efficient way.
Job Purpose
The intern is expected to work with the newly established project site for DPRK in the DEEP platform by migrating and downloading documents as well as tagging them with relevant keywords for the DPRK CD. This entails responsibility to search for and download relevant information from reports, plans, reports, interviews and articles, and other sources. The other duty is to tag these various resources and make them searchable as relevant for the IFRC in its information management for DPRK.
There is also an expectation that the intern will help track Korean media for relevant articles on DPRK and compile into weekly reports for the IFRC DPRK Head of Country Delegation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1.Follow media in Korean on DPRK.
- Read articles relevant for Red Cross with a link to humanitarian issues and security.
- Analyse and share relevant news with the Head of Country delegation (HoCD) weekly.
2. Populate the DEEP platform site for DPRK with historic and recent documents on DPRK relevant for the IFRC.
- Search and upload relevant documents and information to the DEEP project site.
- Tag documents according to IFRC needs to become searchable in DEEP.
3. Regular follow-up meetings with the HoCD on progress and main findings.
4. Propose a way to the HoCD on how to analyse and present the information on the DEEP site for various purposes, such as within thematic areas (health, water & sanitation, food security).
Education
- In Graduate Studies preferred, as part of the internship requirement in university.
- Bachelor’s level also welcome to apply.
Experience
Experience with data/information analysis.

- Korean language speaker (Required)
- Ability to work well in a multicultural team (Required)
- Demonstrated accountability (Required)
- Fluently spoken and written English (Required)
- Good analytical skills and solution-oriented (Preferred)
