ADB Pilot Initiative for Disbursements

2. Summary of Job Description
As an intern, you will join our engineering team responsible for delivering a pilot initiative for ADB’s refactored disbursement system. This is a great opportunity to learn and work on software development using modern frameworks and technologies. The successful intern will gain hands-on experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD), Trunk-Based Development (TBD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Monitoring and Logging, Security, and Performance Optimization.

3. Period of Assignment
Duration: 10 weeks
Timing: June 2025 onwards

4. Location
ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines

5. Expected Outcomes
• Contribute to the team’s effort to deliver a pilot disbursement system by August 2025.
• The pilot product shall provide scalable and sustainable architecture based on microservices. Outcome is an MVP that can be replicated for similar initiatives going forward.

Qualifications

6. Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements
• Knowledge of Full-Stack development with a focus on DevOps practices.
• Technical Skills:
o Knowledge of front-end and back-end development using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Node.js).
o Knowledge of TDD, TBD, IaC, CI/CD, and SRE practices.
o Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
o Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
o Understanding monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
o Understanding of security best practices in the DevOps lifecycle.
• Soft Skills:
o Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues.
o Good collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
o Continuous learning mindset.
