Tätigkeitsbereich
The Competence Center “Public Finance and Administration” within the division “Governance and Conflict” promotes the responsible handling of public finances and strengthens the performance of administrations in partner countries. We play a quality-assuring role in shaping the content of GIZ commissions, combining state-of-the-art conceptual knowledge, international networks, process expertise and implementation experience. The Competence Centre supports development cooperation programmes worldwide in the areas of public finance, public administration, anti-corruption and raw materials governance, particularly in project planning and by providing technical advice on implementation. We are also increasingly working on how approaches within these areas can contribute to environmental and climate goals and a just transition to a low-carbon future.
Ihre Aufgaben
- Support the cross-departmental core team in GIZ’s technical and methodological area on the topic “Just Transition” (the need to ensure a just transition to a climate-neutral economy and society)
- Develop presentations, carry out research tasks and analyses (relating mainly to Green public finance and Just Transition)
- Support in the conceptualization of a project of green public financing and Just Transition
- Support with events in terms of organization and content, e.g. the GIZ-internal Community of Practice on Green Public Finance
- Revise various intranet pages maintained by the Competence Centre on the specialist topics of public finance, public administration, anti-corruption, resource governance and illicit financial flows
- Support responsible colleagues in preparing presentations, briefings and compiling current project overviews
- Support knowledge and community management as well as the prepare and follow-up on internal/external appointments.
Ihr Profil
- In the process of obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social (e.g. political science, economics, public administration or law) or natural sciences; ideally with a focus and interest in development policy
- You have a strong affinity for the topics of good governance and/or just transition and/or climate and environmental public finance
- You have very good written communication skills and have gained initial experience in publishing studies or scientific papers
- You are interested in the topics of international cooperation; initial work experience, especially in developing and emerging countries, is an advantage
- You are familiar with the German political landscape and the work of German development cooperation
- We require a good command of German and excellent English. Knowledge of French or Spanish are of asset
- We also expect a high level of commitment, willingness to cooperate and learn as well as flexibility and goal-orientation

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.134,52 (gross).
