Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is based in New York and is located in the Project Management Office (PMO) Team of the Information Management Systems Service (IMSS) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF or the Fund) Pension Administration. The internship is available for three months with the possibility of extension up to six months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours). For more information about the Fund, visit https://www.unjspf.org The incumbent reports to the Chief of the PMO, in close coordination with the Project Management Assistant, in charge of the overall Project Management-related activities of the Fund. The PMO Team is responsible for the oversight, governance, reporting and providing support on the strategic portfolio of projects of the Fund.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the PMO Intern will be responsible for the following duties: • Assist the PMO Team with uploading and updating all the newly prioritized projects and initiatives to the MS Project tool • Assist in setting up the Portfolio management tool that aids capacity building, resource management, prioritization of the portfolio of projects within the defined parameters • Assist the Project Managers (PMs) and the PMO Team with project documentation and any other assistance, as needed • Assist the PMO Team with supporting the MS Project and Power BI tool • Assist with project report update and publishing • Help to monitor project progress and assist the project managers with identifying, tracking and mitigating active risks and issues • Assist the Project Manager(s) with project planning and scheduling • Assist the PMO Team build reports and dashboard in Power BI • Assist the PMO Team automate some of the routine tasks using Power Automate • Perform other related duties as assigned Work implies frequent interaction with the following: • Project Management Officer, Project Management Assistant, and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) • Project Managers and Chiefs of Units and Sections throughout UNJSPF Expected results: • Provides effective project management support to the PMO Team in their business as usual tasks as well as specific project related work • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Establishes impactful work relationship with external vendors and set up new tools based on defined requirements from the team • Effectively follows up with key stakeholders on action points/next steps under minimal supervision • Demonstrates competence in the identification and resolution of issues/problems • Is well-organized and produces comprehensive reports, relevant data, minutes of meeting etc, as needed • Consistently applies appropriate policies, guidelines, and procedures • Effectively and, in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues, user groups and other concerned parties internally and externally

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: • Applicants to the programme must meet one of the following requirements at the time of their application: (a) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or (b) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) • Applicants who have graduated (as defined in (a) or (b) above), if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation • Be computer literate in standard software applications

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required; fluency in French is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.

Special Notice

If already in the United States of America on another non-immigrant visa status other than G-4, interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization, allowing them to undertake the internship. United Nations Considerations
