ABOUT INTERNAL AUDITOR AT WFP
Job holders hold responsibility for all phases of audits/reviews and the coaching/guiding other staff working on those assignments. Frequent travel to WFP Field Operations, mainly to developing countries, is required This position is based in Rome and reports the Director, Office of Internal Audit or the designate.
THE ROLE
To independently plan and undertake complex audit assignments in order to assess the soundness, adequacy and application of internal management and financial controls.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not allinclusive, within delegated authorit:
- Perform complex/major audit assignments in multidisciplinary audit teams, operational reviews, special audits in accordance with internal procedures and auditing standards.
- Prepare riskbased audit plans and programmes, prepare and review audit working papers, develop and document audit observations and related recommendations to address shortcomings identified, strengthen internal controls and improve business processes.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports incorporating input from team members, answers from auditees and the Management feedback from the Office of Internal Audit.
- Lead or participate in the Office of Internal Audit work planning, development of professional practices and ad hoc assignments as determined by senior Management.
- Communicate timely and effectively with the Management of the Office of Internal Audit on the status of engagements, issues impacting them and steps taken.
- Monitor the status of audit recommendations, assess the adequacy and timeliness of actions taken by the audited offices.
- Support coordination of activities with WFP’s external auditors. Make significant contribution to the development and update of Internal Audit policies and procedures.
- Identify training needs, develop training programs and materials, and deliver workshops with respect to auditing approaches and techniques.
- Provide direction and guidance to the team members, coach them for effective team work and results, and assess their performance.
- Take responsibility for an equitable and inclusive workplace which incorporates all dimensions of the WFP diversity and inclusion framework.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Advanced University degree in Audit, Business and Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field, or First University degree with additional professional experience.
- Completed certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CP, Certified Chartered Accountant (CC, Certified Internal Auditor (CI, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISor equivalent is required (or proven internal audit experienc.
Experience:
- Typically eight or more years (three of which internationaof relevant progressively responsible experience in planning, leading and executing internal audits in various organizations that use modern auditing techniques including auditing automated financial and management information systems, management and operational areas.
- Demonstrated records of supervision of audit teams or staff.
Language:
- Fluency (level in English language.
- Intermediate knowledge (level of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working languag.

- Demonstrated expertise in auditing standards, methodologies and practices including applicable financial rules and procedures.
- Demonstrated practical use of auditing techniques including familiarity with electronic sources and databases.
- Knowledge of how to collect information, systemize, analyse and put forward solid recommendations.
- Strong business acumen, analytical and strategic thinking.
- Strong coordination, planning and leadership skills including ability to influence Senior Managers by consistent and clear communication
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and setting priorities.
- Ability to coach staff in undertaking audit assignments and in drawing conclusions.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This is an International Professional position and is open to all nationalities.
Mobility is and continues to be a core contractual requirement in WFP. This position is however classified as “nonrotational” which means the incumbent shall not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified as rotational. The selected candidate will be employed on a fixedterm contract with a probationary period of one year. This position is open to both internal and external candidates.
WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.orincluding basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
The selected candidate will be required to relocate to Rome, Italy to take up this assignment.
