The Department for Continuing Education, offering inspiring and transformational courses from one of the world’s oldest and largest communities of part-time learners worldwide, is seeking a driven and ambitious communications professional to support the development and delivery of internal communications. Our vision for the Department is to be a global centre of excellence for Lifelong Learning and in doing so, we aim to foster a vibrant community amongst members of staff who can deliver the best teaching, research and support for learning.
About the role
Together with the support functions (HR, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc.) and the Senior Leadership Team in the Department, you will advise, produce and collaborate to create engaging content, ensure timely distribution, and measure how the communications land with your audiences.
You will have an affinity with aligning your tactical content creation to the broader strategic aims of the Department and these functions, and as such you need to have experience of:
- Developing and delivering internal communications plans; measuring success and enhancing communications accordingly where required
- Strategically choosing between push and pull channels, driving engagement across the Department, and ensuring the systems and processes support the communications goals
- Setting up new communications channels, and knowing how to optimise the channel mix
- Writing, designing and producing engaging and accessible content across a wide range of channels, including video, email briefings and events.
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week. It is a fixed term contract that will run for two years. Further information on this role can be found in the job description.
About you
To thrive in this role, you will have a keen and confident mindset, be self-motivated, have great collaboration skills and a strong affinity with digital communications. You are used to working in complex and ambiguous environments, with a wide range of stakeholders, and ideally you’ll have worked in higher education before.
