The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Office of Legal Affairs and Business Practices. 

The DNR Office of Legal Affairs and Business Practices (OLABP) is committed to upholding integrity, diligent legal practices, and ethical business conduct. We actively support risk mitigation, liability protection, responsible procurement, and resource management. OLABP programmatic areas include agency Legal Affairs, Risk Management, Internal Controls, External Audit Coordination, Privacy, Internal Policy, Procurement of Goods and Services (PGS), coordination of agency Rulemaking, and environmental reviews and analyses carried out according to the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). 

Under the supervision of the Agency Internal Policy Manager, this position provides senior level analyses and consultation to staff at all levels of the agency including region, senior and executive staff.   

This position functions as the agency policy administrator responsible for maintaining the agency policy collection; assisting programs throughout the agency with developing and updating policy documents (policies, procedures, tasks, guidelines, standard practices memorandums, etc.); ensuring policies and procedures remain up to date; and ensuring policies and procedures follow the agency policy process and format using the Peabody Method.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in business administration, public administration, business law, records, or closely allied field from an accredited institution;
    OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
  • Two years’ experience with writing policy and/or providing policy and procedure development guidance.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Thoughtful decision making, valuing both people and process.
  • Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
