The Advancementportfolio works collaboratively across the University to initiate, grow and steward strong person-to-person relationships with key stakeholders that support Monash University’s research and education endeavours. This work delivers outcomes that significantly enhance the University’s profile and resources.
Advancement oversees a range of activities including fundraising, alumni relations, communications, donor programs, government relations and community engagement activities for the University, nationally and internationally.
The Opportunity
The International Alumni Manager – North America is responsible for undertaking a range of duties for the Advancement division to support the Monash Alumni Community and Global Leaders Network based in the United States. As the lead on engagement and alumni relationships, the contractor will build and manage relationships with alumni in the United States, including government, community and business leaders to influence and encourage involvement in Monash University’s Alumni programs and connect them to other alumni and areas of the University
The contractor will work strategically with the Alumni Engagement team in Australia to develop, implement and deliver a range of programs and services for Alumni throughout the United States of America that achieve the strategic objectives and goals for Alumni Engagement and Advancement and will be the external liaison at relevant functions, providing contact reports and assistance with event coordination for Advancement colleagues and the alumni community.
The contractor will build an active and beneficial network of like-minded alumni and provide in-country support to Advancement colleagues from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President. In addition, work will include researching and provide regular updates about US alumni activity and trends, including the identification of Monash alumni located across North America. Actively updating the records in the database to maximise accuracy of data and enable professional and coordinated relationship management.
Engaging extensively with our alumni, operationalisation of the University strategy and Alumni Engagement Plan, and coordination with internal/external stakeholders are key expectations of and central to the success of this role.
About you
We are seeking a contractor with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of articulating ideas clearly both in writing and verbally. The ideal candidate excels in building and maintaining strong relationships across diverse levels and cultures, fostering collaboration within and outside the organisation.
The successful applicant will bring strategic analysis and problem-solving capabilities, showcasing attention to detail and the ability to think laterally. Adaptability is key, as the role requires working in an agile environment.
Additionally, technological proficiency, especially in current business management software, is expected. Experience in the US market, along with established links to the expatriate community and Australian government agencies in the country, would be advantageous.
