Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
To ensure Child Protection’s program activities and wrap-around services on emergency, other ongoing humanitarian response and prevention programming are highlighted to its stakeholders.
Scope of Work:
UNICEF’s advocacy priority in Myanmar is to promote and fulfil the rights of children by accelerating the general provision of all wrap-around services and enhancing the protection of the most vulnerable children through the implementation of all child protection interventions with the support from key relevant stakeholders particularly donors and all humanitarian actors, especially at the current moment – responding to the ongoing humanitarian crisis after the military takeover. UNICEF Myanmar’s Child Protection section, with the support of its donors, is continuously working to ensure that there are services and tools in place to support vulnerable children and their families, including adjustment of timely services to be reached out as needed in Myanmar. In this way, UNICEF is implementing several program initiatives with the support from its donors, and it is crucial that effective communication with and the visibility of those funding partners are maintained and highlighted.
For this reason, under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Specialist (System Strengthening & Justice for Children) and overall guidance of the Chief of Child Protection, the successful candidate will develop communication materials that highlight the work of UNICEF’s, Child Protection section, including in response to humanitarian crisis evolved after military takeover and other emergencies, to ensures visibility and recognition of the works being undertaken and achieved. The major tasks of this consultant working on communication and visibility are therefore also to provide an advocacy platform for fundraising to cover the current severe shortage of fundings to Myanmar with the overarching aim of program expansion and reaching out a greater number of children being affected by the ongoing crisis. It is vital that UNICEF’s response is accurately reflected and showcased to donors and stakeholders locally and internationally.
Therefore, the support from a communications professional who has experience working in the fast-paced child protection environment in Myanmar and showcasing the work of child protection donor funded programs is required. The Consultant will be required to coordinate with child protection personnel on a regular basis to ensure smooth and harmonized visibility is achieved for the program and its donor agencies.
