The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship.

We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented intern to join our International Labour Review team. The intern will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and reach of our academic journal. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain handson experience in academic publishing, dissemination and distribution.
As an intern in the ILR, you will be exposed to a whole range of areas such as:
• Assisting in the development and implementation of dissemination strategies to increase the journal’s readership and impact in collaboration with the ILR team, relevant ILO departments (e.g. ILO librarand the publisher.
• Providing support for the indexing of the ILR in all three languages in all major databases (e.g. Scopus, Web of Scienc.
• Supporting the distribution of the journal to subscribers, libraries, and academic institutions. Liaising with internal units (e.g. the ILO Library and the Publications Production Uniand external organisations (publisher, university libraries, Directory of Open Access Journals and other external partnerto ensure the effective distribution of the ILR worldwide.
• Supporting the development and implementation of the ILR social media strategy to facilitate the timely and effective dissemination and outreach of the ILR. Liaising with internal units such as the Department of Information and Technology Management (INFOTE, the Department of Communication and Public Information (DCOMand others, and external stakeholders (e.g. academic network.
• Monitoring and analysing metrics related to journal dissemination and readership.
• Supporting the redesign and implementation of the new ILR website, including the new web application and digital publishing platform. Liaising with internal units (INFOTEC, DCOMM and otherand external partners (software providerto assist in the organization, administration and implementation of the new systems.
• Performing research and other work assignments related to the indexing, distribution and dissemination of the ILR. Participating in desk reviews, draft communications to concerned parties (internal and externaand preparing documentation.
• Providing administrative support to the ILR team as needed.
You would be gaining experience in working with specialists who are involved in the following tasks:
• Reviewing highly technical papers submitted for publication in the ILR.
• Coordinating the production of the ILR, involving the editing and translation as well as finalisation and publication of the accepted articles in all languages of the ILR.
• Assisting in the administration of the review and production processes of the ILR.
Interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Publishing, Communications or a related field. The candidate should be enrolled in their final year of graduate degree programme or should have completed such a programme no longer than 1 years ago.
Relevant work experience and knowledge of dissemination and distribution of publications would be an advantage.

Selection process:
Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HR, hiring departments will shortlist applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected by any department for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster.
If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the hiring department for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, email, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.
Stipend/Financial compensations:
As an intern in Geneva, you will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month from the ILO, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundatio. If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive 2450 CHF per month. Your travel to Geneva will be at your own expense. In addition to the amounts referred above, each intern shall receive the amount of CHF45 per month, or the equivalent amount in the currency in which the monthly stipend is paid, which is a contribution from the Office towards the cost of medical insurance to cover the period of the internship.
Qualified candidates from nonand underrepresented countries may be eligible for a special fund that provides financial assistance for roundtrip airfare (economy clasin addition to the stipend.
Insurance:
Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. You will be responsible for your own insurance coverage for illness and accidents for the duration of the internship at the duty station (whether Geneva or the fiel.
