Broadreach leads international summer trips for teens with a focus on experiential education, marine biology and scuba diving.
High school and college students can earn college credit while traveling with a small group of peers. Students participate in lectures, discussions, scuba diving and field research, as well as activities that build leadership and teamwork. Our goal is that students gain new skills, new friends and have more fun learning than they ever thought possible.
Broadreach offers marine biology and marine science summer jobs. Broadreach Instructors are expected to educate, mentor and inspire students every day. This is a 24/7 position with limited free time or personal space. Broadreach instructors also need to be energetic and empathetic role models who excel in building meaningful relationships with young adults.
Our instructors will lead a for credit, college level course for high schools. Instructors will relay information through lectures, guided discussions, assist with collecting research data and provide context to students as they observe local outfitters. As the academic lead for a program, you will be responsible for issuing and grading assignments including journal entries, research presentations, midterms and finals. We will provide course syllabus and program materials to our instructors prior to the summer.
Responsibilities Include: Managing health and safety of students, maintaining a positive attitude through challenging circumstances, leading games, participating in service-learning activities, developing students’ personal growth, facilitating inclusive group dynamics and demonstrating respectful travel, leading academic discussion and grading student assignments.
Broadreach Adventures are fun, rewarding and demanding. Each course is approximately two to three weeks long and is mentally and physically challenging. Our most successful instructors are positive, flexible, team players who are able to create a fun, cohesive and supportive community. Groups typically have 8 – 14 students and 2 – 3 Broadreach Instructors. Contracts range from three to eight weeks from early June through mid-August. Qualifications
Our instructors will attened training in Raleigh, NC from June 7th to June 13th. Our instructors will be placed in Yucatan for our conservation program or in Fiji for our shark studies program. Instructors will lead programs between June 17th and July 17th.
