Job position: Internist MD
Location: Wolisso Hospital, Oromia Region, Ethiopia
Start date: December 2024-January 2025
Duration: 12 months
Purpose of the role
The internist MD will contribute to the improvement of the quality of care offered by Wolisso Hospital, by ensuring the clinical management and organization of medical and emergency services.
Key duties:
- Coordinate the activities of the medical and emergency departments and outpatient services by monitoring diagnosis and treatment quality
- Provide clinical support to St. Luke’s Hospital in internal medicine, TB, and HIV care, ensuring quality of services
- Develop and implement continuous training programs for health personnel in the area of competence
- Collaborate in training provided by the School of Nursing and Midwifery
- Support and supervise TB screening and treatment services
- Promote quality improvement strategies and update clinical protocols based on clinical evidence and national and international standards
- Collaborate on data collection and analysis
- Mentor Italian residents who are included in the JPO (Junior Project Officer) initiative
- Collaborate in any research carried out in the relevant fields
Requirements:
- University Degree in Medicine and Specialisation in Internal Medicine
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a specialist
- Previous experience in the field of Internal Medicine in fragile or low income countries
- Ability of adapting skills and competencies to contexts with limited resources and capacity to effectively cooperate with the national staff
TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience)
Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work
Flight ticket: one return flight
Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, professional registration, work and residence permits
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
