The intern will serve as a researcher and analyst in conducting a review of analytical and practical approaches and methods to understand and counter fiduciary risks in climate finance programs and projects in Asia and the Pacific. This review will include an analysis of existing literature on the following topics: a) types of integrity risks in the mobilization and utilization of climate finance, b) the potential integrity vulnerabilities and safeguards in climate finance programs and projects; c) a review of platforms (websites, apps) that help monitor/track and report climate finance from fund sources to actual projects; fund flow mechanism including geospatial digital platforms; and d) examples of successful and unsuccessful efforts at tackling integrity risks in climate finance program and projects, and lessons from these efforts. The intern will also assist in the conduct of a seminar on the results of the review.
This internship will contribute to the following outcomes:
  • Better understanding of the nature of existing approaches and methods to tackle fiduciary risks in climate finance through an extensive review of literature of the work of international organizations, national governments, and private sector.
  • Greater public awareness of approaches and methods to address fiduciary risks in climate finance through publication of a report on Integrity and Transparency in Climate Finance in Asia and the Pacific by 1Q 2025.
  • Deeper understanding among bank staff and stakeholders of approaches and methods to reduce fiduciary risks in climate finance through the conduct of a seminar under CCSD’s Emerging Solutions for a Sustainable Future.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
  • Masters or PhD in economics, public policy, political science, statistics, or in the other relevant social sciences. Candidate must be currently enrolled. Demonstrated strong analytical capability and communications skills would be advantageous.
Relevant Experience:
  • The successful candidate will have experience in contributing to research reports and/or analytical products on topics in international development. Experience in working in climate change activities, and more specifically, in climate finance would be desirable.
