The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. It is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing an ICT strategy, for setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat and for managing central ICT services. The IAEA’s ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, and cloud and externally hosted services. The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and Prince2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices. 

Main Purpose

Under the supervision of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and senior team members, the Intern will gain hands-on experience in supporting various data management and governance activities. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to the execution of data strategy initiatives, learn about data architecture and governance, and understand the fundamentals of project coordination within the organization.

Functions  Key Results Expected:

  • Support Data Analysts by performing basic data analysis tasks, generating reports, and creating visualizations to aid in decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation related to data management processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Support team members on the preparation of materials ahead of meetings and participate actively in them.
  • Support team members in understanding business stakeholders’ data needs and use cases and assist in designing solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Support Data Architect in gathering information on best practices in data management and present findings to the team to help inform data strategy decisions.
  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of data to ensure its quality and readiness for analysis.
  • Any other tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Information Technology, Business, Data Science, Management, Statistics, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of data management, data/business analysis, statistics, cloud data platforms and/or software development.
  • Good understanding of business intelligence development, preferably using Power BI
  • Good business acumen
  • Ability to work productively and maintain effective relationships in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
