WorldFish would like to hire an intern who will assist in conduction fish nutrition experiments in laboratory in Penang, Malaysia. The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team of experts from different backgrounds, including fish nutrition, gender, climate change, scaling of innovations, science communication, rural development and bioprocesses.
The successful candidate will:
- Assist in the preparation and manufacturing of fish feeds.
- Assist in the maintenance of research facility.
- Assist in fish experiment activities (fish feeding, tank cleaning, fish handling and fish subsampling).
- Assist in the collection and reporting of accurate and updated fish experiment data (water quality, growth data).
- Assist in data collection of ingredients, feed, and fish samples.
- Assist in sample analysis at the analytical laboratory.
- Write and submit a report at the end of internship period.
- Assist in any other duty to support the fish feeds and nutrition team and partners.
Requirements
This opportunity will be suitable for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
- The candidate either will have obtained or currently be working towards obtaining a Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrate record of inter-disciplinary, partnership building, and the desire to work in a collaborative environment.
- Shows good self-initiative & able to work independently.

Location and Duration
Successful intern will be based at WorldFish Headquarters, in Penang, Malaysia and will be required to regularly visit University Science Malaysia (USM), Penang Main Campus to assist in fish experiment activities. The successful candidate should be available to commence the internship as soon as possible for a duration of 06 months. This position is open only to national applicants only. Interviews are expected to be held in February 2024 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview.
