Duties and Responsibilities
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The Regional Office is primarily responsible for maintaining continuous liaison with the States to which it is accredited and with appropriate international organizations, regional civil aviation bodies, sub-regional bodies and UN Agencies and programmes. In addition, the Regional Office ensures interregional coordination and promotes the timely and harmonized implementation of ICAO policies, decisions, Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and air navigation plans. The Regional Office also provides technical guidance and assists States/Territories in their implementation activities. The Intern supports the Regional Officer, Flight Safety (RO/FS), Regional Officer, Safety Implementation (RO/SAF-IMP) and the required activities in Flight Safety (FS) section. The intern will report to the RO/FS who assign tasks, decide on priorities. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Regional Officers, Flight Safety and Safety Implementation, the intern will be expected to: • Assist the RO/FS in preparing meetings of RASG contributing bodies related to Safety and AIG, including workshops, seminars, and related training activities. • Support the RO/FS in reviewing working papers, information papers, and presentations submitted by States and international organizations for APANPIRG contributing body meetings and assisting in the preparation of meeting records and reports. • Support the RO/SAF-IMP to assist States in enhancing their safety oversight capabilities with a specific focus on Technical Assistance Missions, addressing identified deficiencies, and improving their Effective Implementation (EI) scores in the USOAP Continuous Monitoring Approach (CMA). • Support the RO/SAF-IMP in developing regional guidance material in PEL, OPS and AIR Audit Areas and training materials for national Inspector training. • Perform other related duties.
Qualifications/special skills
At the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to aviation, engineering, safety management, airport management, aeronautical/aerospace, computer science, data science, or related field. Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree. Experience in Air Traffic Controlling, National Civil Aviation regulatory authority including safety management, training and course development, airport management field is desirable.
Languages
Essential requirements: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English. Desirable requirements: A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
