The Germany Team in UNICEF’s Public Partnerships Division is looking for a university intern to support the team in shaping and building partnerships with assigned governments to achieve results for children worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to obtain an in-depth understanding of the functioning of UNICEF and its work, from high-level political engagement to liaising with colleagues in the field and regional offices and across headquarters divisions. Under the direction of the Germany Team Senior Advisor, the intern will support various aspects of external relations, development and implementation of partner strategies and approaches for member states and respective thematic areas.

The Germany Team in UNICEF’s Public Partnerships Division is looking for a university intern to support the team in shaping and building partnerships with assigned governments to achieve results for children worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to obtain an in-depth understanding of the functioning of UNICEF and its work, from high-level political engagement to liaising with colleagues in the field and regional offices and across headquarters divisions. Under the direction of the Germany Team Senior Advisor, the intern will support various aspects of external relations, development and implementation of partner strategies and approaches for member states and respective thematic areas. Main tasks include:
1. Learn by supporting Partnership, Advocacy and Resource Mobilization Strategies with Member States:
2. Learn by supporting the Senior Advisor and other senior management for their strategic engagement with government partners and international forums:
3. Assist the Public Partnerships Division and UNICEF at large in partner engagement at multilateral fora.
4. Learn by supporting the Senior Advisor and the broader Germany Team, as required, in providing guidance and support to UNICEF Field Offices on various partnerships matters, including contribution management and donor recognition.

Modality: The internship is onsite in Berlin on a full-time basis. Working hours are flexible and agreed mutually with the supervisor. Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota.
Tentative start date: 1 June 2024 for 6 months (26 weeks). An internship may be terminated by either party, with a notice period of at least two weeks.
Salary/Payment: As per UNICEF guidelines, an intern will be paid a stipend of US $1,700 per month if based in New York or 70% of the monthly salary of the GS level 3 step 1 in other duty station if telework from outside. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.
Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start the internship with the Health Section.
Visa Requirements: Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa, covering the entire period of their internship. If necessary, UNICEF will support the process by providing relevant documents such as the proof of internship. For internships in the US, the candidate needs to be eligible for a G4 Visa, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), be a Green Card holder or US Citizen.
