Embark on a transformative journey with Yoga and Sport with Refugees (YSR) through our dynamic internship program. This unique opportunity blends academic learning with hands-on experience in a grassroots organisation dedicated to supporting refugees. As an intern, you will engage in project-based work and actively participate in our community outreach initiatives, including volunteering in our gyms and organising fundraising events.
At YSR, interns are vital in influencing the future of our organisation. You’ll work closely with other interns, staff, and your assigned coordinator to advance projects and discover possible collaborations across different efforts. We’re looking for individuals who are proactive, energetic, and have solid analytical and time management abilities. It’s important that you’re genuinely motivated to contribute to our mission of empowering people through sports
Location flexibility is available, with internship opportunities in Lesvos, Athens, or Ioannina. While our main office is in Athens, interns may choose the location that best suits their interests and availability.
Fundraising team
The fundraising team is responsible for ensuring YSR has money coming in to cover the budgets set by the management team. The fundraising team is responsible for ensuring YSR’s core costs are covered and strive to achieve our fundraising priorities for 2024.
Interning without our fundraising team offers a well rounded experience and hands on experience with key fundraising methods. As foundations are our main source of funding, you will acquire the skills to support the application process by researching and drafting proposals. In addition to this you will have the opportunity to oversee fundraising campaigns, develop our corporate partnerships strategy and get an insight into donor management and retention.
You will also have the opportunity to get involved with other areas of the organisation as you wish.

What we’re looking for:
- Minimum age of 21
- Commitment of at least 3 months
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Independence and previous NGO experience preferred
- Passion for event organisation
- Some experience in administrative tasks
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Academic research experience is a plus
Additional notes:
The internship can start in July 2024 and will last from 3 to 6 months.
