You are applying to the ILO generic internship roster, which is published several times per year. (increase understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving them directly in the work of the Office and the application of ILO principles, programmes and strategies;
(gain practical experience with the ILO directly related to their field of study.
The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship.

The International Labour Organization’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAis based in Bangkok, Thailand and supports work in 36 member countries, from Afghanistan to the Pacific Islands. Areas of action include increasing productive and decent employment opportunities, providing adequate social protection, and responding to crises. Other relief and development issues include human trafficking, bonded labour and child labour, the growth of the informal economy, labour migration, poverty alleviation, safety and health, skills and employability and youth employment. ROAP has a Regional Communications Unit (RCOM, which works to enhance understanding and awareness of the work of ILO in the Asia and the Pacific region. RCOMM carries out communications activities at the regional level and also supports ILO communications officers based in countries around the region.
As an intern in the Regional Communications Unit of the International Labour Organization’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific you will be actively involved in a wide range of communications actions and activities aimed at creating awareness and understanding of ILO’s work in the region. This will include the development and production of a variety of content, liaison with projects and ILO country offices, support to organization of events etc.
You would be gaining experience in working with specialists who are involved in communications as well as a wide variety of technical areas relating to ILO’s work in the region e.g. migration, occupational safety and health, labour rights etc.
Interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.
Ideally the intern will have an educational background in a communicationsrelated field such as mass communications, journalism, public relations etc. Study in other academic fields such as international relations, development studies, labour law, gender studies would be beneficial however candidates from any academic field would be considered should they demonstrate past experience or a strong desire to gain experience in the communications field.
The candidate should be enrolled in their final year of graduate degree programme or should have completed such a programme no longer than 1 year ago
Relevant experience and knowledge carrying out communications actions would be an advantage for example developing written or audiovisual content, social media content production and marketing, event organisation. Infographic production or data visualisation experience/ability would be an advantage. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator etan advantage.
Excellent command (native/near nativof spoken and written English. Knowledge of other languages from the AsiaPacific region is an advantage.
Adaptable to an international, multicultural and multilingual environment, good communication skills, flexibility and able to work in a team

Selection process:
Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HR, field offices will shortlist applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department or field office within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster.
If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the field office for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, email, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.
Stipend:
As an intern in the field, you will receive a monthly stipend from the ILO based on the cost of living in the area of the duty station, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundatio. If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive the appropriate stipend per month. Your travel to the duty station will be at your own expense.
Insurance:
Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. You will be responsible for your own insurance coverage for illness and accidents for the duration of the internship at the duty station (whether Geneva or the fiel.
