Position Summary:
CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues.

An Invasive Species Field Biologist position is available with Colorado State University and The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, and duty-stationed on Guam in compliance with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Mariana Islands Training and Testing Biological Opinion of 2015 and the Navy-funded Project Statement of Work that implement regional biosecurity measures to prevent introduction and promote control and management of invasive species. In fulfillment of these objectives, the Field Biologist will act on a Biosecurity team to conduct field data collection, and control invasive species and provide interdiction on the islands in support of US Navy Joint Region Marianas, located on Guam. Invasive species control includes brown tree snake, little fire ant, coconut rhinoceros beetle, and Tinian cycad scale. Brown tree snake work will require working with dead lab mice for bait stations. Little fire ant control includes vegetation management and pesticide application. Coconut rhinoceros beetle work includes baiting and removal. Additional vegetation management may be required for a variety of project needs. Field biologists work out of the CEMML office in Assan, Guam and will be required to coordinate with Navy, Air Force, and Marine project partners and service members of Naval Base Guam, Anderson Air Force Base, and Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz.
