IFC’s Eastern Africa team is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP). The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Duties and Accountabilities:
- Analyze financial statements and projections, build financial models, and run sensitivities.
- Draft and present memos of relevant early-stage investment opportunities for discussion.
- Assist in mapping and screening business opportunities and undertaking market research.
- Assisting in the design of sector and country strategies and crafting client presentations.
- Support transaction teams during investment due diligence and execution. Help prepare concept notes, investment committee materials, evaluate, structure and close new transactions.
- Identify data collection needs to support the assessment of financial, operational, development impact, and market information.
- Be proactive in learning and knowledge sharing and take initiatives to create transactions.
Selection Criteria:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree level program
- Preferred field of study: MBA, Finance
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, business/financial consulting or another fast-paced, knowledge-based work environment. Project finance, private equity, or investment and commercial banking experience would be a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in financial statement analysis, accounting, finance, financial modeling, DCF, and comparable company analysis to support informed decision making.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, thoughtful scenario analysis, and diligence in the quality of one’s own work.
- Highly motivated and having a genuine commitment to sustainable development.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills in English is a must. Working and speaking French needed.
- Ability to conduct business in French, both verbally and in writing.
