Job Summary

Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is one of the largest IOM missions in the world working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Facilitate group-based psychosocial activities (art, play, discussions, sports, physical exercise, yoga, knitting, restoring memory or living history through different activities etc).
  2. Support awareness-raising on mental health, resilience, and well-being.
  3. Encourage inclusive participation with attention to gender and diversity.
  4. Refugees gain increased awareness of mental health, resilience, and well-being.
  5. Refugees with specific needs are identified and referred to IOM or appropriate service providers.
  6. Provide structured informal learning opportunities for children.
  7. Conduct informal education and life skills sessions for adults to strengthen adaptability and community engagement.
  8. Refugees improve basic numerical knowledge for use in daily life, strengthening their coping mechanisms.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor”s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other relevant fields or obtained specific degree in teaching with two years of relevant work experience, preferably in teaching children.
  • Completed High School from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experiences.

EXPERIENCE

  • Indonesian National with good knowledge and understanding of migration, border security and migration management context in Indonesia
  • Experience in facilitating psychosocial or community-based activities in multicultural settings.
  • Proven experience in delivering courses for different age groups.
  • Prior experience working with refugees is highly desirable
  • Capacity to provide regular reporting in line with IOM requirements.

SKILLS

  • Solid understanding of migration and border governance related national/regional framework and regulations
  • Strong research and analytical skills would be an asset
  • Well versed in written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia, including the ability to explain and present technical information; able to draft written documentation in a clear and concise style in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Strong liaison and networking skills with state and non-state actors.
  • Strong training experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like (word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail).

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
