JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general linguistic support and interpretation services to PASSIM4 health teams (doctors and nurses) involved in rescue at sea operations on the Italian Coast Guard patrol vessels in Lampedusa and Roccella Jonica;
- Support the health teams identifying vulnerable groups among the migrants rescued by the PASSIM 4 interventions;
- Remain available to participate in rescue operations at sea on the Italian Coast Guard patrol vessels, as required by the PASSIM 4 team;
- Participate in all the training sessions envisaged by the PASSIM 4 project (i.e. health assessment, psychological first aid, gender-based violence, human trafficking, intercultural communication, stress management and burn-out prevention);
- Support the PM in reporting on any issue related to migrants rescued to be provided within the PASSIM 4;
- Support with any relevant administrative and procurement procedure to be implemented locally in Lampedusa and Roccella Jonica;
- Any other related services, as requested.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma with 3 (three) years of professional experience
or
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution with one year of professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in the field of migrants’ assistance;
- Working experience in the field of cultural mediation and migrants’ health, with a particular focus on migratory vulnerability and integration to health services;
- Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs and/or EU Agencies would be an asset.
Skills
- Knowledge of the Italian Immigration Act with specific reference to the international protection holders status;
- Knowledge of the International Health Regulation at arrivals via sea in Italy;
- Driving license is required.
Languages
For this position, fluency in Italian (oral and written) and mother tongue in at least one of the following languages is required:
English, French, Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Turkish, Pharsi, Pashto
Knowledge of Tigrinya, Somali, Amharic would be considered an asset.
