Job Overview:

The Development Coordinator serves as a member of the Resource Development Department and works closely with the Development Director to leverage community, foundation, and public funding opportunities through community engagement, unrestricted fundraising and proposal development for the Miami and Tallahassee offices. The Development Coordinator works to ensure the IRC in Florida has adequate resources to support programs and services and is responsible for raising an agreed upon annual financial goal. This is a full-time non-exempt position, reporting to the Development Director.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Development:

• Collaborate with the Development Director to identify and approach potential individual, corporate, foundations, community groups and donors.

• Manage and engage a portfolio of donors to build relationships and ensure continued support.

• Attend key community events to strengthen partnerships and identify outreach opportunities.

• Serve as a liaison to community groups, maintaining communication with staff, volunteers, donors, and stakeholders.

• Contribute to the creation of annual development plans and fundraising strategies for the Florida offices.

Grants:

• Meet annual fundraising goals with a focus on securing grant funding.

• Develop an annual grants calendar with goals for both restricted and unrestricted grants.

• Implement strategies to solicit institutional funding through proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests.

• Research funding opportunities and collaborate with program managers on new proposals.

• Prepare proposals for local foundations and institutional donors with program staff.

• Maintain grants management systems and ensure accurate data tracking.

• Manage grant and contract files with consistent documentation.

• Collaborate with IRC HQ on new contracts, grants, and sub-grants.

• Oversee the proposal submission process, ensuring timely coordination.

Special Events and Fundraisers:

• Serve as the onsite coordinator for assigned events, working with the Development team to manage logistics, event goals, and marketing.

• Assist in securing event sponsorships and in-kind donations.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

• Certification or continuing education with grant writing, proposal development, and/or fundraising preferred.

• Minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience required with progressive levels of responsibility. Minimum of one (1) year experience writing grants.

• Program management experience strongly preferred. People management experience a plus

• Proven, superior organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment

• Outcome driven work style, establishing clear expectations and ongoing measurement of performance toward achieving targeted outcomes

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, to work independently as well as in a team

• Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new computer applications rapidly; experience with CRM/donor management databases and email content management platforms preferred

• Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with current and prospective institutional donors and volunteers, partner agencies, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels

• Experience working with refugees and immigrants, international work and/or non-profit experience is highly desirable.
