Brief description of the organization

Yazda Iraq is a local organization registered in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It operates as a subsidiary of the global Yazda organization and adheres to the same mission: supporting vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by genocide and mass atrocities. In Iraq/KRI, Yazda implements programs focused on advocacy, legal assistance, humanitarian aid, and community and survivor empowerment initiatives. The Country Director leads these efforts, ensuring they align with organizational goals and respond effectively to local needs.

 

Project Background:

The Documentation Program was launched in October 2015 to document the genocide committed against the Yazidis. Since then, the Documentation team has been collecting evidence in the form of witness and survivor interviews, and documenting crime scenes in and around Sinjar, Nineveh Province, where the genocide took place. The mandate of the project is to build an accurate historical record and evidence base to support prosecutions, transition justice mechanisms, advocacy and accountability for the crimes committed by ISIL against Yazidis.

تم إطلاق مشروع التوثيق في أكتوبر 2015 بهدف توثيق وجمع وأرشفة الأدلة حول الإبادة الجماعية التي ارتكبها داعش ضد الأيزيديين في نينوى، العراق. ومنذ ذلك الحين، بدأ فريق التوثيق بجمع وأرشفة الأدلة على شكل مقابلات مع الشهود والناجين وتوثيق مواقع الجرائم مثل المقابر الجماعية ومواقع القتل. الهدف من هذا المشروع هو توفير قاعدة أدلة لدعم المناصرة والمساءلة وآليات العدالة لجرائم داعش ضد الأيزيديين.

Job Purpose 

The purpose of the role is to ensure quality control of program data and its migration onto Yazda databases.

Main Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the IT Coordinator, the IT and Data Archive Assistant is expected to fulfill the following duties:

• Manage, sort, and archive all program-related data in accordance with internal policies and best practice guidelines
• Support the quality control and accuracy of all data within the dedicated database and follow up with the relevant team members to correct errors in a timely manner
• Implementing and maintaining comprehensive data collection tools and program databases
• Ensure smooth migration of data to the database.
• Ensure the high level of protection of data through data security mechanisms, network access, and backup systems
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for all departments
• Coordinate closely with the Documentation Team to meet their data management needs and support the streamlined processing of information and data gathered
• Ensure that donor targets are met without compromising quality and in accordance with domestic and international evidence-gathering and chain-of-custody standards
• Produce and provide the data, information, and reports requested by the IT Coordinator or Project Manager

• إدارة وتصنيف وأرشفة جميع البيانات المتعلقة بالمشروع وفقًا للسياسات الداخلية وإرشادات أفضل الممارسات.
• دعم مراقبة الجودة ودقة جمع البيانات داخل قاعدة البيانات المخصصة والمتابعة مع الزملاء المعنيين في الفريق لتصحيح الأخطاء في الوقت المناسب.
• تنفيذ وصيانة أدوات جمع البيانات الشاملة وقواعد بيانات المشروع.
• ضمان انتقال البيانات بسلاسة إلى قاعدة البيانات.
• ضمان مستوى عالٍ من حماية البيانات من خلال آليات أمان البيانات، والوصول إلى الشبكة، وأنظمة النسخ الاحتياطي.
• استكشاف مشكلات الأجهزة والبرمجيات وحلها لجميع الأقسام
• التنسيق بشكل وثيق مع فريق التوثيق لتلبية احتياجاتهم في إدارة البيانات ودعم معالجة المعلومات والبيانات المجمعة بشكل سلس.
• ضمان تحقيق أهداف المانحين دون التأثير على الجودة ووفقًا للمعايير المحلية والدولية لجمع الأدلة ومعايير سلسلة الحيازة.

Required skills and knowledge:

Professional Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT and computer science/engineering or related field
• 2 years’ experience working in data entry, IT programming, data management or related field
• High level of computer skills, including software and hardware skills
• Understanding and previous work experience in data protection and/or cyber security preferred
• Experience working with an NGO is preferred
• Advanced level of understanding of confidentiality requirements and the protection of highly sensitive beneficiary data

• Language skills:
  • Proficiency in Arabic and Kurmanji is mandatory.
  • Basic oral and written skills in English are required
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills and the ability to work well with people from different backgrounds

• Able to prioritize work, multi-task, and meet deadlines
