The IT Officer is responsible for the provision of IT standard guideline implementation as well as lead IT support to DRC operation in Bangladesh and to ensure reliable hardware, software, backup, and networking support throughout the program locations. The position is responsible for providing the highest level of IT technical assistance in country for implementation of DRC Dynamics.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Tasks
- Ensure that the best practice of DRC ICT standard and IT policies are maintained, and proper standard guidelines are followed.
- Review suitability of the hardware existing in DRC Bangladesh country program am for present solutions/cost estimates for upgrading the ICT infrastructure.
- Review the software usage and authenticity of software being used in DRC and provide solutions recommendations and implement these in close coordination with the management.
- Develop and maintain smooth networking service and modify/improve IT network of DRC.
- Maintain and develop efficient printing service and printer server to manage printing smoothly.
- Ensure all staff in DRC Bangladesh have proper access to the DRC Dynamics and troubleshoot in coordination with HQ Dynamics Competency center for issues related to system access of staff.
- Monitor all DRC computers in the country program are properly updated, track windows 11 upgradation, Entra ID joining and endpoint Security management Heimdal agent protected.
- Ensure data backup system is established throughout the program and followed in all programs.
- Ensure SharePoint and OneDrive are well set up and fully functional in line with DRC’s requirement of online data backup.
- Support HoSS to develop IT system and equipment usage SOP for DRC Bangladesh and ensure such SOPs are respected and followed throughout the program.
- Provide guidance, advice, and support to procurement department for selection and installation, use and maintenance of equipment across the following technical disciplines: Information Technology and Communications.
- Oversee the accounting and control of the IT systems including the internet.
- Sensitize users to maintain an IT secure environment and related SOPs clarifications.
- Conduct training and induction session to the users on care and protection of DRC IT equipment, basic IT skills and DRC guidelines.
- Align and coordinate with Global IT Service & Operations on common infrastructure and systems.
- Participate in DRC Global IT forums and secure communication around Global standards.
- Travel to field offices and provide IT-related support as needed.
- CCTV camera management of DRC offices.
- Support the information management strategy.
- Routinely evaluate and improve the functionality of current IM systems
- Provide technical support on planning, design, and monitoring of data collection activities Document problems and their resolution.
Safety
- Comply with all global and location-specific safety rules, policies, and procedures. Report safety incidents, near-misses and other relevant information to the safety team as shall be briefed during onboarding. Failure to adhere to these is a disciplinary offence while it may also leave the position holder, their colleagues and DRC Bangladesh, at risk.
Key Performance Indicators
- Monthly update of Azure domain joined users.
- IT induction is provided for new staff. Ensure adequate IT on-boarding of new staff (HW availability, IT induction).
- All staff have proper access to DRC Dynamics.
- The Internet and other infrastructure are fully supporting the implementation of DRC Dynamics.
- Expenditure for IT is tracked and reported to HoSS.
- All computers have anti-virus and Heimdal agent updates.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in relevant IT position, experience in the NGO sector is an asset.
- Experience in running a Local Area Network preferably Cisco Meraki Network Dashboard management.
- Experience in Office365 user support.
- Knowledge of network configuration including but not limited to firewalls, NAT and routers.
- Knowledge of the IP protocol and its concepts.
- Knowledge of server configuration including but not limited to installation, running, backup and patching.
- Ability to do basic hardware maintenance – like changing internal power supply and the like.
- Ability to prioritise large and changeable workload.
- Good communication and organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to work independently and energetically.
- Experience working in global IT organization.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (i.e. MS Azure).
- IT Security and Data Protection understanding at advanced level (IS/NIST frameworks).
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum University Degree in Computer Science or IT Engineering or similar sector with IT focus.
LANGUAGES
- English (Fluent in writing and speaking)
- Bengali (Fluent in writing and speaking).
