IT Officer, Data and Information Management II – Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Engineer

Information Technology is an integral part of the strategic initiatives for all the core business functions at IFC. Within Corporate Information and Technologies (CIT), Data Engineering, AI and Platforms (CITDE) organization provides comprehensive data and analytics support for IFC’s various organizations, such as Economics & Private Sector Developments, Global Industries, Climate Business, Treasury and Mobilization, any many more. A robust engagement model with business ensures prioritization of the business requirements & focus on delivery. The solution landscape encompasses a wide variety of in-house and customized data applications, AI/ML solutions and scaled capabilities which meet the business needs of IFC departments.

Data Engineering & Platforms (CITDE) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative IT Officer – Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an SEO Engineer, you will play a critical role in enhancing IFC’s intranet content optimization, driving organic traffic, and improving search engine rankings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, developers, and engineers, to implement advanced SEO strategies. Your deep understanding of search engine algorithms, technical SEO, and analytics will be key to your success in this role.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Optimize website architecture, URL structures, and HTML/CSS for better crawlability and indexing by search engines.
•  Implement on-page SEO strategies, including meta tags, headers, and schema markup, to enhance content relevance and ranking.
•  Regularly analyze website performance using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO software to identify opportunities and issues.
•  Conduct in-depth keyword research and competitor analysis to inform content strategies and identify growth opportunities.
•  Work closely with the editorial and content teams to ensure content is optimized for both search engines and user experience.
•  Perform regular site-wide technical audits to identify and resolve issues affecting site performance, such as broken links, crawl errors, and duplicate content.
•  Stay updated on the latest search engine algorithm changes and adjust strategies accordingly to maintain and improve search rankings.
•  Develop and execute link-building strategies to increase domain authority and improve off-page SEO.
•  Manage and utilize SEO tools and platforms, such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog, to support optimization efforts.
•  Collaborate with developers, designers, and content creators to ensure SEO best practices are integrated across all digital assets. Provide training and guidance to team members on SEO practices.
•  Generate regular SEO performance reports, track KPIs, and present insights to stakeholders, demonstrating the impact of SEO efforts on business goals.

 

Selection Criteria

•  Master’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Machine Learning and at least with 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in data engineering, software engineering or data science/ML role.
•  4+ years of experience in SEO, with a strong focus on technical SEO.
•  Proven track record of improving website rankings and driving organic traffic.
•  Proficiency in SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs).
•  Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and their impact on SEO.
•  Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Magento.
•  Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make actionable recommendations.
•  Experience with A/B testing and other optimization methodologies.
•  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•  Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•  Experience with website migrations and their impact on SEO.
•  Knowledge of international SEO and multilingual sites is a plus.
