Job Title:

IT Officer Bangkok, Thailand

Role Purpose:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of IT services for the British Council Thailand. Works under direction of GIS as acting IT Manager.
  • To enable British Council staffs and customers in Thailand to meet their objectives, and to ensure high levels of business continuity.
  • To manage and deliver IT support services, IT asset inventory, IT security systems.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:

IT service support

  • Responsible to provide agreed IT support services (OnSite/OffSite) in a timely and efficient manner, within agreed SLAs and compliant with Global IS standards and security standards.
  • Responsible that all IT equipment is fit for purpose (OnSite/OffSite), maintained in good working condition. Assists the IT Manager with maintaining corporate standards, including the function, integrity, compliance and security of the IT system and network. Assists with Equipment Inventory documentation for all sites.
  • Manage IT projects delegated by the IT Manager
  • Ensures that Thailand allocated tickets for Incidents, Service Requests, Changes, and Problems are investigated, updated and resolved within SLAs.
  • Maintain onsite IT support at Bangkok branch offices on a periodic basis. Provide onsite IT support at Satit Chula (Prathom and Mathayom) offices and Chiang Mai office per IT Manager request.
  • Conduct IT induction for new staff Cover other team member duties periodically as directed by the IT Manager
  • Carry out agreed daily/regular checks on local infrastructure in line with GIS agreed standards (eg. LAN/WAN connectivity, Internet, IP Telephony, video/teleconference, email, global applications etc)
  • Coordinate activities of IT suppliers both local and central, in line with support contracts (eg Internet, telephone system and support contracts)
  • Support business colleagues with use of IT services, supporting their business processes.

GSD/Incident Resolution

  • Support incident management process, as outlined by Global Service Desk processes and procedures, overseeing the resolving of incidents within agreed SLAs
  • Be able to identify where more complex enquiries may require resolution and refers them on accordingly.
  • Coordinate service requests/changes on behalf of your site, in line with GSD and agreed SLAs.

Inventory System

  • Maintain lists of Hardware and Software (licenses) for site in line with GIS Standards for Software and Hardware Asset Management (SAM; HAM)
  • Manage list of ins/outs for site
  • Conduct periodic spot checks on hardware inventory, software installations, and user lists.

Compliance

  • Ensure the British Council IT policies and standards are adhered to.
  • Maintain British Council standards to IT security, disposal of IT equipment, software licences, antivirus updates, usage of IT services and FO/BO conformance.

Procurement

  • Ensure that the procured IT equipment meets the standard specification to ensure expenditure fits annual IT budget.
  • Adhere to the procurement policy and ensure that all procurements of goods and services are to be based on value for money.
  • Supervise testing newly procured IT hardware and software.

Supporting a Teaching Centre

  • Supervise the IT support provided to the TC according to the agreed times on the SLA.
  • Manage regular checks on IT facilities in classrooms.

Role specific knowledge and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in an international organisation of:
    • Technical Support
    • Service Delivery
  • At least 2 years experience in the administration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft Operating Systems (especially Desktop), including Active Directory and MS Office Suite

Desirable

  • Networking experience (Cisco preferred).
  • Experience with ITIL based Service Management / Ticketing systems (Service-Now preferred)

Requirements:

  • The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
  • University degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Networking experience (Cisco preferred).
  • Experience with ITIL based Service Management / Ticketing systems (Service-Now preferred)
