Posting Context Statement The OIT Procurement team provides statewide purchasing support for both computer hardware and software in support of the University of Idaho’s teaching, learning and research mission. This team is a unit within the Student and Technology Operations Support Team part of the Office of Information Technology (OIT). As part of the Student and Technology Operations Support team, this position will report to the Deputy Director of Student and Technology Operations Support.
Position Overview This position is responsible for developing, implementing and cultivating statewide IT purchasing solutions for University departments. They will manage, develop and motivate the IT Procurement Team.
Duties may include:
  • Managing, evaluating, mentoring, training and hiring team members
  • Ensuring compliance and security standards are met
  • Following Office of Information Technology and University processes for purchasing
  • Monitoring and updating work management system
  • Reviewing customer interactions for quality assurance
  • Creating and nurturing partnerships with vendors, U of I departments and Office of Information Technology
  • Maintaining fiscal operations and billing processes are being followed
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Required Experience
  • Four years of procurement experience
  • Supervisory experience in a customer service role
  • Experience working with and communicating with external vendors

Required Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Other
  • None
Additional Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology field
  • Previous experience in technology procurement
  • Demonstrated experience with assignment coordination and staff management, service delivery processes, intra/inter-team communications, budgeting, and measures/metrics
  • Strong customer service orientation with the commitment and drive to provide “first class customer service and support”
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with fiscal environments with a basic understanding of budget management
  • Experience in Higher Education
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
