JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

IT Project Manager

Business Technology Solutions, a division of Penn State IT, is accepting applications for an IT Project Manager in the SIMBA group. SIMBA is Penn State’s Enterprise Financial System and related products and services (primarily SAP), including Core Finance, Procurement, Business Intelligence and Budgeting & Planning. This position will report to the Director of the SIMBA group.

Roles and Duties

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on major projects and work requests, align resources, schedules and project plans.
  • Manage internal workflows, feature requests and incidents. Prepare features for Vetting and Governance meetings and align resources for those meetings.
  • Collaborate with Managers to align multiple work streams and ensure timely delivery and project success, including development, testing, consulting, analysis and support.
  • Develop reports and summaries for all levels of the organization, operational and strategic, executive through front-line, on project status, resources and burn-rates, milestones and daily operations.
  • Facilitate and lead the creation of project definitions, feasibility studies, budgets, work breakdowns, rough order estimates, project plans, communication plans and project schedules to determine scope of work for assigned projects.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, and prepare cost/risk/benefit analyses.
  • Coordinate, resolve, or assist in resolution of conflicts and other issues within and between project teams and recommend/provide solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance to other staff or users, especially as it pertains to the use of tools and processes for effective project/work management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, various industry certifications (e.g., PMI), and 8+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Necessary related experience:
    • Experience presenting and working with executives and senior leaders is required, as well as experience managing multi-year, multi-million dollar projects.
    • Experience managing fully remote teams and projects is required.
    • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is preferred, specifically financial and HR systems.
    • Experience with Microsoft Project, including Project on the Web, Service Now and PowerBI will be helpful, as well as knowledge of alternatives. We are open to new ideas and ways of managing work.

The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone.
