IT Service Desk Associate (Summer Experience) – Temporary

As the IT Service Desk Associate, you will provide tier-1 technical support using voice and chat, as well as respond to emails and self-service tickets from students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the University.

 

This position is part of Princeton’s Office of Informational Technology (OIT) Summer Experience Program. OIT is excited to welcome a cohort of undergraduate students to learn, explore, and gain professional experience in a variety of technical and administrative roles. All positions are sponsored by one of the six major departments within OIT, each specializing in a different area of information technology.

 

This is a temporary position.

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Providing support to students, faculty, staff, and alumni over the phone and through email
  • Reviewing, editing, and authoring knowledgebase articles
  • Monitoring ticket queue, resolving technical support issues, and fulfilling requests
  • Documenting all troubleshooting steps and support resolutions in the ServiceNow IT Service Management System

Skills you bring to the table:  

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interest in various technologies and previous exposure to Windows PC and Macintosh computers

 

Skills you will gain:  

  • Gain expertise in supporting enterprise software and user productivity software
  • Understanding of information security concepts (phishing, multi-factor authentication)
  • Exposure to a broad set of applications and computer technologies.
  • Experience providing support that enables students, faculty, staff, and alumni to be productive in their use of technology

OIT is accepting applications for summer experience positions through March 29.  All applications should include a cover letter, resume (or CV), transcripts from previous academic programs, and two letters of recommendation.

Letters of recommendation are due by March 29, however, it is recommended you submit them as soon as possible following application. Letters should be sent via email directly from the letter writer to the summer experience program email account at [email protected] . Letters received after March 29 will not be considered.

 

The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.
