The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking applications from enthusiastic students who are looking to gain professional experience in internal auditing under IWMI’s internship program. The internship will be based at IWMI’s headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Scope of internship
During the internship period, the selected intern will assist the team in the Audit Asia division. Audit Asia is a shared audit services unit of three CGIAR centers—International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Colombo, Sri Lanka; International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Los Banos, Philippines; WorldFish, Penang, Malaysia—and World Vegetable Center, Tainan, Taiwan. The main aim of the unit is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the operations of its member centers. Audit Asia adheres to the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of internal auditing issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors, USA.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain an understanding of internal auditing procedures and processes within international research-for-development organizations while interacting with staff across the headquarters and its regional offices.

IWMI will provide a monthly stipend to the selected candidate during the internship period.
The duration of the initial internship contract will be 6 months, with the possibility of extension for another 6 months based on performance, requirements of IWMI and the availability of funds. This is a nationally recruited internship and only Sri Lankans are eligible to apply.
