The General Sir John Monash Foundation provides postgraduate scholarships for outstanding Australians to further their studies anywhere in the world.
The Scholarship’s purpose is to foster Australian leadership, expertise and international networks for the long-term benefit of the country. The John Monash Scholarship is emblematic of our country’s academic talent, diversity and leadership excellence.
Successful Scholarship applicants demonstrate excellence in their field, leadership aptitude, and are motivated to contribute to a better future for Australia.
Am I eligible for a John Monash Scholarship?
To be eligible for a John Monash Scholarship you must:
be an Australian citizen;
have completed (or nearly completed) a degree with an Australian university;
be planning to undertake postgraduate study at an overseas university commencing in the calendar year following the year that you apply; and
be able to argue the merits of your chosen course, institution, and how you are best positioned to drive progress in your chosen field.
Applicants who are successful in securing a Rhodes, Fulbright or Ramsay scholarship are not eligible to hold a John Monash Scholarship concurrently.
Key Scholarship Selection Criteria
1. Excellence may be evidenced by outstanding academic results, prizes, awards, publications, performances, exhibitions, enterprises and professional endeavours.
2. Leadership may be demonstrated in an applicant’s academic and professional environments and/or their community involvement.
