THE ROLE

  • JOINT MANAGEMENT OFFICER – LM015 – ALICE SPRINGS
  • CL 6 (Commencing at $83,728 progressing to $96,180)

National Parks in Central Australia are unique in that the majority are owned by Traditional Owners and leased back to the NT Government. These leases, alongside the Territory Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1976, provide a strong foundation for effective joint management between Traditional Owners and the Parks and Wildlife Commission (PWC), as well as outlining Central Land Council’s (CLC) statutory responsibilities.

This role works closely with Traditional Owners and PWC to ensure the principles and objectives of joint management are being upheld. This includes recognising, valuing and incorporating Aboriginal culture, knowledge and decision making processes and utilising the combined land management skills and expertise of both joint management partners.

As a joint management officer, you will establish close working relationships with Traditional Owners in order to understand their ongoing aspirations for the joint management of their land and facilitate meetings in some of the most beautiful and culturally significant locations in Central Australia.

BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, 15.4% superannuation, five weeks annual leave and Christmas shut down period.
  • Generous salary packaging (maximum $29,000 annually, depending on individual circumstances);

  • Yearly airfare allowance (circa $1,300);
  • Relocation assistance, should you be moving to the region; and
  • Subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for the first four months.

The Central Land Council is dedicated to delivering ongoing professional development and career progression for its people. You will have the opportunity to undertake professional development and to take part in a number of new projects as the organisation continues to grow and innovate.

Most importantly, this role will allow you to work in a diverse environment where you affect real change.
