At the Medway Food Innovation Centre at NRI, we are looking for a motivated MSc student in Food or in food-related areas to work in a lab-based project involving the extraction of the protein fractions of underutilised plant sources (especially beans). This role will involve working with novel extraction technologies (e.g., ultrasound, high pressure processing, etc) and the optimisation of extraction conditions.
Main responsibilities:
Support the completion of an ongoing project using eco-innovative methods to extract proteins from beans (pinto, fava, etc.) and other underexplored matrices.
Support the writing of a literature review, experimental design, data analysis and writing up of results.
Balance the competing pressures of research and administrative demands and deadlines.
Any other duties as may reasonably be required, consistent with the grade of the post.
The student is expected to work for 18 hours a week until the end of project. Work will be carried out flexibly and around the student’s term timetable.
