Key responsibilities
The Junior Adviser will join the Product Policy & Sustainability team to support our advocacy and communication activities related to Product Safety and Sustainability, including Circular Economy, Eco-design, Packaging, Climate, Products Safety, Chemicals Labelling and much more. In this role, reporting to the Director Product Policy and Sustainability, you will be working closely with colleagues and our members, supporting the Non-Food and Environment Committees and working groups, in their contribution to, and implementation of policies and legislation impacting the sector.
- Supporting Committees: assist and support Advisers for Product and Environmental policy in managing relevant regulatory and policy issues in the field of non-food products (consumer information, product safety regulation, enforcement, chemicals issues, responsibility) and sustainability issues (Circular Economy, Waste, Eco-design, Climate etc.);
- Monitoring, analysing, and assessing key political and policy developments; prepare communications and briefings for members in consultation with the advisers;
- Supporting the development of advocacy plans and participate to advocacy activities together with the policy and advocacy team, participate in meetings with EU institutions and stakeholders on a need’s basis in agreement with the advisers;
- Write contents for internal and external communications (memos, briefing, InBrief) in the relevant policy areas and support communication activities -e.g. social media; organisation of dedicated events with partner organisations and relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A university degree in Political Sciences, Law, Economics, or other relevant degree;
- First experience in a similar, relevant role in EU Public Affairs, preferably in a trade association, consultancy or other organisation working on related topics, looking for a long-term commitment with further opportunities to grow;
- Understanding of, and strong interest in the working of the EU institutions;
- A keen interest in Product Policy, Circularity and Sustainability;
- Excellent Communication skills in spoken and written English; Knowledge of additional European language(s) is an asset;
- A team worker, with a sense of responsibility and initiative, excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of developing robust working relationships with colleagues, members and stakeholders.
